Nassau is a Democratic Republic in the southern end of the Grand Isles, that was a former tributery of Burkeland and a Duchy that was overthrown in a rebellion and later gained full independence after millitary pressure from Purshovia. Nassau is lead by a popularly-elected Governor, who is elected for three-month terms, with the Admiral being the second-in-command and the leader of the navy.
History
It is unknown when the Duchy of Nassau came into existence, due to the island not being added as a port until 2018 alongside the islands of Harrisburg, Salem and Cannoneer's Key.
Creation of the Republic
The Republic of Nassau was declared during the Nova Balreskan-Burkeland War when the islands of Salem and Harrisburg took up arms against their liege, Burkeland, to join Nova Balreska. Unlike the other islands, Nassau declared its own rebellion against their Duke, Nelson the "Nasty" of Nassau, lead by a person named Bob Pinkers Schmucklebutt to gain Nassuvian independence.
