Hallengard was a formerly-democratic faction, ruled by a Hersir (who commanded both diplomacy and the navy), which resided upon the Isle of Hallengard (now known as Fort Verner). Hallengard was unique in having both a trial-by-combat rank challenging system (where the leader and admirals can be challenged to a fight by anyone one rank below them to take their place, as long as the person being challenged has not been in a challenge battle within the last 7 days) and an ability to "raid" enemy factions similar to piracy, where stolen cargo is given a bonus to the money earned when sold. These bonuses, however, disappear if Hallengard were to become friendly towards a nation.

Trivia
Perth was the only island Hallengard had tried to occupy outside of its home island, however, the island was defended and kept by Whitecrest
Hallengard was originally controlled by a Freyr, who was replaced by the Governor. After the NPTCo. left, the rank of Freyr was not reinstated. Instead, the Hersir, formerly the rank of the second-in-charge, was established as the highest commanding rank in the faction.
The last leader rank was "Elder", being modified September 2020.
