Mining is a skill and a Game Mechanic. Nodes are categorized into tiers, with higher-tier nodes requiring better metal pickaxes. Scattered throughout the Grand Isles you can find nodes that allow players to gather resources. These resources are used in crafting, trading and ship construction.

Mining Skill

You can level the mining skill by gathering ore nodes, a higher mining skill gives you a higher chance of rare drops and higher drop multipliers, it will also give you increased stamina.

Mining Mechanics

  • Durability: Using a higher-tier pickaxe on a node reduces the damage dealt to your pickaxe.

For example, using a Gold pickaxe to mine a tier 2 node will result in less wear and tear on your pickaxe compared to using a Copper Pickaxe. However, unlike before the mining rework all gems are currently fragile and break easily when used as pickaxe.

  • Drops: Using a higher-tier pickaxe increases the chances of obtaining rarer materials.

Tiers

With the 10th Anniversary update releasing, different tiers of ore nodes got introduced into the game. In total there are 6 tier of nodes, of which 5 are available in the game right now. The 6th node tier is expected to release in a feature update. Each tier of nodes have their own drop table, shown below with some additional information.
