Mining is a skill and a Game Mechanic. Nodes are categorized into tiers, with higher-tier nodes requiring better metal pickaxes. Scattered throughout the Grand Isles you can find nodes that allow players to gather resources. These resources are used in crafting, trading and ship construction.
Mining Skill
You can level the mining skill by gathering ore nodes, a higher mining skill gives you a higher chance of rare drops and higher drop multipliers, it will also give you increased stamina.
Mining Mechanics
- Durability: Using a higher-tier pickaxe on a node reduces the damage dealt to your pickaxe.
For example, using a Gold pickaxe to mine a tier 2 node will result in less wear and tear on your pickaxe compared to using a Copper Pickaxe. However, unlike before the mining rework all gems are currently fragile and break easily when used as pickaxe.
- Drops: Using a higher-tier pickaxe increases the chances of obtaining rarer materials.
Tiers
With the 10th Anniversary update releasing, different tiers of ore nodes got introduced into the game. In total there are 6 tier of nodes, of which 5 are available in the game right now. The 6th node tier is expected to release in a feature update. Each tier of nodes have their own drop table, shown below with some additional information.
Tier 1 Nodes ( Iron )
Tier 1 nodes are the most basic type of nodes in the game, found on spawn islands. These nodes exclusively drop iron, making these ideal for people who only whish to collect iron. Any pickaxe can be used to mine these nodes.
- Location(s): Spawn Islands.
- Required Pickaxe: Any pickaxe.

Tier 2 Nodes (Copper)
Tier 2 nodes are found not only on spawn islands but also on some non-spawn islands. These nodes are more diverse in their drops compared to tier 1 nodes. In addition to iron, these nodes can drop copper, coal, and a gem called Topaz. To mine tier 2 nodes, players require at least an Iron pickaxe.
- Location: Spawn Islands and some non-spawn islands.
- Required Pickaxe: Iron pickaxe or higher.

Tier 3 Nodes (Silver)
Tier 3 nodes can be found on most larger non-spawn islands such as Perth, Salem, Saint Christopher, Harrisburg and Freeport. These nodes drop a wide variety of materials, including iron, copper, silver and coal, along with rarer drops such as Topaz, Rubies, and Emeralds. To mine these nodes, players require at least a Copper pickaxe or higher.
- Location: Non-spawn islands.
- Required Pickaxe: Copper pickaxe or higher.

- Nodes and Pickaxe Compatibility: You cannot mine nodes with pickaxes that are below the required tier. In-game it will say: Pickaxe to weak, please try a pickaxe of a better metal.
- Electrosteel can currently not be obtained by mining, you can still obtain Electrosteel by trading with other players.
Trivia
- The mining system got reworked in the 10th Anniversary update, making it one of the biggest reworks introduced in the games history to date.
