It is unknown when the Duchy of Nassau came into existence, due to it not being added as a port till 2018 with [[Harrisburg]], [[Salem (Island)|Salem]] and the island of [[Cannoneer's Key]].

The Republic of Nassau was declared in the middle of the at the time on-going Nova Balreskan-Burkeland War over the islands of Salem and Harrisburg that taken up arms against their owner [[Burkeland]] to join [[Nova Balreska]]. A rebellion was declared against their Duke, Nelson the "Nasty" of Nassau,  lead by a person named Bob Pinkers Schmucklebutt. The Rebellion was supported by Chancellor Cholaso of Nova Balreska with Admiral Cheeze sent to help the Rebels, while the Navy of [[Whitecrest]] was on the side of Duke Nelson. Both sides would send aid in the form of men to their respective sides in the rebellion to help their allies on the island in the battle for Nassau, which would end when Duke Neslon had to retreat from Nassau with the help of Whitecrest.

The Republic of Nassau was declared during the Nova Balreskan-Burkeland War when the islands of Salem and Harrisburg took up arms against their liege, [[Burkeland]], to join [[Nova Balreska]]. Unlike the other islands, Nassau declared its own rebellion against their Duke, Nelson the "Nasty" of Nassau,  lead by a person named Bob Pinkers Schmucklebutt to gain Nassuvian independence. The Rebellion was supported by Chancellor Cholaso of Nova Balreska, who sent Admiral Cheeze to aid the Rebels, while the Kingdom of [[Whitecrest]] supported their ally Burkeland. Both sides sent men to the island to assist their chosen sides in the rebellion, ultimately concluding with Duke Nelson being defenestrated off of the lighthouse and forced to retreat with Whitecrest.

After their succesfull rebellion Nassau launched an invasion against Salem, capturing the island an annexing it into the Republic. Burkeland after finishing their conflict with Nova Balreska would go on the offensive against Nassau. Defeating the Republic's forces and after which they would turn Nassau into a tributary state underthe Kingdom of Burkeland. Nassau would be allow to keep Salem and Burkeland would set up the office of Governor of Nassau to control the islands.

After their succesfull rebellion, Nassau launched an invasion against Salem, ultimately capturing the island and annexing it into the Republic. After Burkeland defeated Nova Balreska, they then began an offensive against Nassau to resubjugate it, ultimately ending in a peace deal in which Nassau would become self-governing and own the island of Salem, but would remain a tributary vassal of Burkeland.

On September 18, 2020 Nassau would be added as a playable faction into Tradelands. Due to it being new a temporary leadership would be set up under the leadership of Admiral w0ws. Nassau would find it self instantly in a Region Wide War between two sides. With the Aukai blockade of Hallengard ending a day before, and the War for the Reconquest of [[Perth]] started by Nova Balreska on Whitecrest two days before. Burkeland would decide to support Whitecrest in the war after an attempted takeover by a Scion of the Man Dynasty, LucasKCVC, dragging the new faction into it. The Navy of Nassau would show it's worth during the war, mainly in the defence of Burkelandic Southern Fleet's main port, Harrisburg. The war would end with Whitecrest, Burkeland and Nassau winning

On September 18, 2020, Nassau became a playable faction into Tradelands, and thus with it a navy and government was created to support it. The fledgeling nation under the leadership of Governor Apple_Turnovers and Admiral v0ws quickly found itself embroiled in a new conflict encompassing the entirety of the Grand Isles, as with Nova Balreska attempting to reconquer Perth from Whitecrest the Prince LucasKCVC of Whitecrest attempted to reclaim the throne from the perceived illegitimate Tram, heir of the pirate EPICMON999. This combination of Nova Balreskan invasion and internal coup caused Burkeland to pledge its support to Whitecrest, dragging Nassau into the war with it. The war would take yet another turn when Hallengard seized the opportunity to assault Harrisburg, in which timely Nassau and Whitecrest intervention saved the island.

Peace would not last for long however, the newly elected Governess Apple_Turnovers would see the Purshovian-Burkelandic War's Grand Isles Theatre unfold before her eyes. Seeing the Fortress of [[Clydesdale]] fall to the [[Purshovia]] Navy and the ongoing fight for the [[Burkeland (Region)|home isles of Burkeland]] she would declare Nassuvian independence. Admiral w0ws seeing the situation would start a coup which would fail, after which negotiations would begin between Nassau and Burkeland. In the end Nassau would give up Salem for the [[Saint Christopher|Fort of Saint Christopher]], which was supported by Purshovia. Nassau would find it self in peace, electing Ser50 to be their second Governor. But while Nassau was establishing itself, conflict was brewing all across the Grand Isles. And on December 27, 2020, Nova Balreska would finally declare war on Nassau to take control of their Fort. After the loss of their islands, Nassau had no other option but to maken an alliance with their on-and-off enemy, Whitecrest. The two factions would fight against Nova Balreska in the coming months of 2021, till finally the Purshovian Admiral, Marochev, would take affairs into his own hands, creating a semi-coalition with the factions of the Grand Isles and crush Nova Balreska. Nassau successfully retake Saint Christopher during Purshovia's blockade and bombardment of [[Verdantium (Island)|Verdantium]].

Things would begin to take another turn for Nassau in September of 2020 when word reached the Grand Isles that Purshovia was invading Burkeland, and so it was quickly brought into yet another war to defend its liege. However, things would take a drastic turn when Nassau seized the opportunity to declare its independence from Burkeland. Due to the sudden announcement of this declaration by the Governess Apple_Turnovers, the Admiral v0ws declared a coup against her out of fear of Burkelandic retaliation, however the coup would be disbanded when a diplomatic agreement was reached between Burkeland and Nassau for Nassau to be guaranteed its independence in exchange for the island of Salem and giving temporary reinforcement to Burkeland, being granted the fort island of Saint Christopher in exchange.

With order restored to the region, Nassau would look towards the new small once again independent nation of Salem. The small faction gained freedom after the Peace Treaty between Purshovia and Nova Balreska, but Nassauvian Leadership, claiming it as it's rightfull territory would seek to conquer the island once more. Salem's defenders would prove to be a strong defensive force, halting the Nassuvian Navy many times during the war with [[Ships|Trading Ships]], the war gaining the nickname; the "Goose War" after the conflict ended. Nova Balreska would intervine multiple times during the conflict which would last 2 months, ending with the Nova Balreskan takeover and annexation of the island. With nowhere to expend Nassau would find itself in a small amount of peace, while the contreversional election of July caused chaos inside of Nassau. With Ser50 being unable to run, multiple unliked candidates wishing to become the next Governor and successor of Ser50 tried to gain the position of leadership. Due to the chaos an attempted political takeover by the player Beyonder was started, declaring himself the self-appointed Governor of Nassau. It would all end with the unprepered candidate, blueskydiamondgaming becoming Governor for a short while, before suddently disapearing, after which the Governor position was overtaken by Admiral SquidTrain, a veteran in Nassau's wars. Nassau would stabalize till the next election, where the candidate Poutpout_army, a beloved figure would win the vote of the people.

With its newly founded independence, Nassau would try to take the opportunity to grow and improve its navy, however on December 27, 2020, Nova Balreska declared war on Nassau to take control of their Fort, a war that resulted in a devastating loss for Nassau. With the loss of their islands, Nassau was forced to form an alliance with Whitecrest in an attempt to resist Nova Balreskan imperialism. The two factions would fight against Nova Balreska in the coming months of 2021, climaxing when the Purshovian Admiral Marochev arrived in the Grand Isles to reclaim the fort of Clydesdale which had been lost to Nova Balreska, crushing Nova Balreska and allowing Nassau to successfully retake Saint Christopher during Purshovia's blockade and bombardment of [[Verdantium (Island)|Verdantium]].

Poutpout_army's intended reforms that he set up to do would be  interupted by the First Whitecrest Siege of Saint Christopher, that saw the Nassuvian Navy fiercly defending against the Kingdom of Whitecrest, King EfficientYT wishing to establish a defencive live against Nova Balreska. The war would be marked by the amount of blockades that took place during it, being one of the only wars fought with naval battles only. In the middle of the war, Governor Poutpout_army resigned from his position, with a temporery Naval Junta being set up for the duration of the conflict.  The war would end with the final battle between Whitecrest and Nassau at Saint Christopher, the Nassuvians sinking or boarding the naval ships of Whitecrest. Combat would end on the [[Posiedon]] of Whitecrest Navy member Zachgaudio, the nassuvians capturing it in the process. Whitecrest and Nassau would sign a peace deal a day later.

As a consequence of the war against Purshovia, Nova Balreska was forced to give independence to the island of Salem, a nation which Nassau quickly moved to seize. Despite the defenders of Salem proving to be a strong adversary, Nassau ultimately would conquer the island, though this would not last long as Nova Balreska quickly struck once again to retake the island from Nassau.

In a small break from the constant external conflict and war Nassau constantly found itself in, the elections of July 2021 proved to be an almost comedic relief, as interest turned domestically when the Governor ser50, alongside many other high-profile individuals, was barred from running in the elections, resulting in the election of the unsuspecting Governor blueskydiamondgaming. His rule did not last long, as he quickly went missing, in which the civilian BeyonderJ6 attempted to declare himself Governor before being swiftly put down by Admiral SquidTrain, who took the seat of Governor for himself until the next elections could come.

After the Ser50 would be reelected for the remaining part of the year, while a Captain by the name of Skulldragon7 would rise to be the leader of the navy as its Admiral. Nassau would remain peaceful for the duration of Ser50's term, announcing that he would not be running in the next one. Multiple navy members tried to become the new Governor, with ItzNastyyy winning at the end of the election. ItzNastyyy would continue Ser50's peace and try make allies with the fellow democratic nation of Nova Balreska, which would end unsuccessfully. While the new Governor was doing his own plans, Skulldragon7 would authorize a Mysterius Expedition by the Navy. It is not know by the public what happened in it, and no details have been revealed yet. During this time the [[Blackwind Pirates|Pirate Crew]], Imperial Marine Corps would start wars of Pirate Conquest with the crew Rogue Raiders aiding them in attacks. The Pirates would take over the islands of Perth from Nova Balreska, Skulldragon7 deciding to liberate the Perth and then exchange it for the island of Salem, still under Nova Balreskan control ever since the Goose War. The pirates would request aid from other Pirate Crews, and would successfully defeat the attacking Nassuvian forces at Perth, later capturing the Fort of Saint Christopher for 2 weeks.

On March 22. of 2022, Commander Y'Gert of the [[Inyola|Inyolan]] Imperial Navy would announce his presence to the people of the Grand Isles. Commander Y'Gert was sent by the Emperor to deal with Inyola's enemies in the region, and to destroy the Inyolan Rebel incursin that had taken place within the Grand Isles. He would thank Nova Balreska and Whitecrest for their aid and call for their help in crushing the rebels located in the region. It would soon come to the public's attention that Nassau and the Blackwind Pirates both decided to support the Inyolan Rebels, splitting the Grand Isles into two different sides regarding Inyola. The Imperial Alliance and the Rebels with their supporters' aid would soon engage with each other. The Rebels crushing the naval forces of the Imperial Alliance in one of the largest recorded naval battles in the Grand Isles. After the battle the Inyolan would switch their efforts to taking over the islands of Cannoneer's Key and [[Clydesdale]] from Purshovia, only managing to land on Cannoneer's Key before their fleet would be sunk by the Purshovian Navy. The two sides are currently in a standoff.

Nassau would be given its period of peace again, though it would be broken in September of 2021 not by Nova Balreska but by Whitecrest instead, who sought to conquer Saint Christopher for themselves. During this war, Governor Poutpout_army resigned from his position with a temporary Naval Junta being set up for the remainder of the conflict. The war ultimately ended in Whitecrest ending its aggression, finally giving Nassau a victory after its many losses to Nova Balreskan expansionism.

The newly choosen King of Whitecrest, gghostwolff would declare his intensions of continuing the plans of his predecessor, Late King EfficientYT by starting the 2nd Whitecrest Siege of Saint Christopher on the 13th of May. Governor Nastyyy would loose his position to the once again returning Ser50 who took a month before King gghostwolff's declaration of war. Whitecrest and Nassau would fight around the island for several days, with Whitecrest's navy trying to keep hold of their blockade on the Fortress. Nassau would face many casualties in the form of officers, making it low on manpower during the second half of the war. Nassau would successfully halt Whitecrest and push them back to Fenwick where the Nassuvian Navy would attempt an invasion but be stopped by Whitecrest Navy due to bad communication between ships, destroying the fleet. A few days before the battle, the leadership of Whitecrest would offer a White Peace to Nassau, but the at the time Vice Admiral WernerModel would decline it, angering both the officers under his command and the Admirality of Whitecrest. The final battle would take place on the 4th of June, ending the same way as the first war. Whitecrest with their moral regained would attempt a new offensive with 2 [[Tyrant]] and a [[Sigil]] class ship, while the remaining Nassuvian Navymen mustered together a force of a [[Camel]] and [[Dragon]] class ships. The Nassuvians would board and take over two of the enemy ships and sink the remaining one ending the battle.      King gghostwolff would shortly announce that Whitecrest would end their campaign for Fort Saint Christopher, ending it once more with Nassuvian victory.

===The Dragon & the Rats===

In February of 2022, the Grand Isles were upturned when the Blackwind Pirates began a series of expansions which had never been seen before, with the Imperial Marine Corps quickly seizing the island of Perth from Nova Balreska and the Rogue Raiders attempting the same on Fort Verner, though the Rogue Raiders were repelled. With Perth no longer under Nova Balreskan control, Admiral skulldragon7 decided to attempt to try and claim the coveted island for Nassau, though this would backfire heavily when Blackwind not only beat back the Nassau offensive, but captured the fort of St. Christopher as well, once again leaving Nassau with no territories to call its own. Relations quickly turned on their head between Nassau and Blackwind though, when an unexpected and long-dormant force reappeared in the Grand Isles - the Empire of Inyola.

Admiral Skulldragon7 would tell the officers of his intentsions of retiring from his position and head of the navy. Making WernerModel the new head of the Admiralty. His retirement would take place a day later after the battle during a Ceremony, he would leave Nassau in a state of stabilization which continues still.  

On March 22nd of 2022, Commander Y'Gert of the [[Inyola|Inyolan]] Imperial Navy announced his presence to the Grand Isles, sent to destroy an Inyolan rebellion which had established a base in the Grand Isles. Nova Balreska and the Kingdom of Whitecrest agreed to assist Inyola in driving the rebels out, with Nassau and Blackwind agreeing to defend the rebels at any cost, and so the Imperial Alliance began their attack against the rebels. However, the war took an unforeseen turn when the Imperial Alliance was utterly devastated by the rebellion, only managing to sink 2 Camels of the rebellion while losing 2 Alliances, 2 Camels, a Phoenix, a Retaliator, and 2 Binglehoppers. With this loss in hand, Inyola instead turned their eyes to the Purshovian islands of Cannoneer's Key and Clydesdale, seeking to take them for itself to establish an Inyolan base within the Grand Isles and drive out the long-hated Purshovians, however this also quickly turned sour when shortly after landing on Cannoneer's Key, the entire Inyolan invasion fleet was lost with none of the defending Poseidons sunk, trapping the Inyolan invaders on Cannoneer's Key and leaving Clydesdale unchallenged in the hands of Purshovia. These losses have kept further Inyolan aggression to a standstill, and current conflict between the rebellion and the Imperial Alliance remains a standoff.

 

The state of internal politics in the Grand Isles remains much the same between Nassau and its adversaries, while Whitecrest did attempt to siege and claim Saint Christopher oncemore, they were once again beaten back by Nassau and so the fort remains in the hands of Nassau, though the future of the fledgling faction will continue into the future as it grows and further attempts to cement itself amont the far older powers.
