This one-of-a-kind Naginata was forged as a gift to an ancient warlord from Kyoto. It was said that his spirit and resolve was that of a dragon, and the weapon was designed to embody those traits. It was customary for prize weapons to be awarded to great conquerors or military leaders, but the weapons surviving such as this one are remarkably rare. Although ornate, the weapon is still light and balanced, indicating the weapon was not built as a decoration.
