The Astraeus is a level 10 ship with a fairly high cargo capacity, formidable armament, and a strong hull.  It's size and low speed make it an easy target for enemies, however, if not sufficiently manned. The Astraeus' main usage in combat is its two mortars, you can often see the ship hanging back and raining mortar fire down on the opponents, much like the [[Phoenix]].

With its broadside (5x 42 pounder long gun broadside), the Astraeus can shred most ships that come its way, the only thing that hinders the ship is the turning rate of the vessel. The slowness allows the ship to be easily stern and bow-locked, although stern-locking isn't much of a viable option thanks to the stern guns (2x 18 pounder long guns).
