The Kestrel is the first non-voucher Mortar ship available to build, and provides good speed with a decent cargo capacity to boot. Her ability to mount a Size 6 Mortar provides a long-range combat capability previously unavailable to the average merchant or pirate. The Kestrel is usually rarely seen for combat but usually players use it for trade even though it is not the purpose of the ship. It is recommended to get the [[Manta]] for a mortar ship and for a trade ship use. For a trade ship use a [[Pheasant]]
