The '''Widgeon''' is a fluyt designed for combat. While the hull is similar to the [[Goose]], it holds an extra broadside cannon as well as a pair of chaser cannons at the expense of its stern cannon and cargo capacity. The Widgeon offers a fairly inexpensive alternative to larger, more expensive warships and is known for the extremely long range of its chaser cannons

The Widgeon is the combat variant of the goose, offering an additional 1000 hull strength over its mercantile counterpart. The vessel lacks the singular stern cannon of the Goose, instead including two size four cannons situated on the bow, better suited for chasing down fleeing enemies. With a respectable broadside of 4 size six cannons the widgeon can pack quite a punch, half of the broadside is completely enclosed, offering superb protection for the gunners.
* The Widgeon had its own specific battle event in the 3rd [[Freeport Olympics]] games.
