The Goose is a common trade ship favoured by many newer players.  It offers an amazing 14 cargo capacity, second only to the atlas.  When considering its impressive size, inexpensive construction requirements and multiple decks it is a very tempting vessel for aspiring traders.

The Goose is a common trade ship favoured by many newer players.  It offers an amazing 14 cargo capacity, second only to the atlas.  When considering its impressive size, inexpensive construction requirements and multiple decks it is a very tempting vessel for aspiring traders.

However, the Goose is noticeably slower and less manurable than similar level mercantile vessels, such as the Beaver.  While the singular size four stern cannon offers excellent range to fend off pursuing vessels it lacks the power to dissuade most pirates.  The Goose has an unnecessarily high profile and while impressive makes it an extremely easy target for even the most inexperienced crews.  These drawbacks mean the goose is wildly considered obsolete and ineffective for the modern cargo system that rewards higher risks.
